In good weather conditions, a glider can even reach distances of 150 kilometers and beyond. This makes it possible to cover 600 or 1000 kilometers per day. The glider can then even reach speeds of up to 200 kilometers per hour.
Due to the technical and aerodynamic limitations of the glider, the maximum weight of a passenger in the aircraft is 100 kg, including clothing.
To be able to fly a glider independently, you must be in possession of a Glider Pilot License (GPL). You must take a theory exam and a practical exam for the GPL, which will be administered by the Central Bureau for Driving Certificates.
A glider flight costs on average around 50 and 60 euros for one start. The average flight time is very dependent on the orphan conditions. Some organizations use a standard flight duration, sometimes it also depends on the number of bookings for that day. Always inform the organization in advance how long the flights take.
The Royal Dutch Aviation Association reports that there are 33 recognized locations where you can (learn to) glider. There is a location in every province. You will also find other flying sports on the website. You can also view all locations at our map.
