Explore the impressive Bunker Museum in IJmuiden, where a route takes you partly through covered trenches, across the museum grounds and past the bunkers where the collection is on display. Inside one of the bunkers you will find a fully furnished living space, which will make you feel as if you have traveled back in time more than 70 years. Unique BunkersThe Bunker Museum IJmuiden is hidden in a corner of the original Coast Artillery position Heerenduinen. From this position, the entrance to the port of Amsterdam was protected by the defense of the IJmuiden harbor mouth. The museum consists of 6 largely underground bunkers. Inside these bunkers you will be overwhelmed by the extensive collection on display, ranging from a German canteen to a two-person submarine. On the dune is a row of 5 artillery bunkers. They lie nicely next to each other and are very impressive to see. |
