The Bayerische Staatsbrauerei Weihenstephan in Freising is the cradle of Bavarian brewing culture. In addition to being one of the most beautiful breweries, it is also one of the oldest: as early as 1040, the Benedictine monks of the Weihenstephan monastery were given the right to brew beer. This makes it the oldest beer brewery in the world.
