| The medieval Burgplatz with the cathedral and the castle transforms into a fairytale Christmas town with more than 150 stalls during the Advent season. A popular meeting point are the covered rafts in the historic castle moat, where light effects on the ground of glass pebbles indicate the former course of the river Oker. Other highlights in the atmospherically lit city center are the cultural weeks (8-23 December) with traditional choir concerts, instrumental music and Christmas carols and the Christmas workshop for children. You have a beautiful view from the 61 meter high town hall tower, which can be climbed as part of a city tour or individually.
