The International Search and Rescue Event (SAR Katwijk) is organized annually on the first Saturday of July by the Katwijkse Reddingsbrigade (KRB). In 2023, this event will take place on Saturday 1 July and it is one of the largest aid events in the Netherlands. For decades, the KRB has been organizing this impressive event, which for the first took place in 1928. Formerly known as 'the rescue demonstration' and nowadays known internationally as SAR Katwijk, this event annually attracts visitors and participants from abroad. Various demonstrationsAt the next edition of SAR Katwijk, where we expect more than 10,000 visitors, you will not be bored for a moment with the full program between 10 am and 4 pm. The Static show can be found on the Boulevard of Katwijk between the Strandplein and the Vuurbaakplein, while the demonstration area on the beach is located directly in front of the Strandplein (Events Square). Another demonstration area is located on the Boulevard near the Lighthouse and the helicopter landing spots are located on the South Boulevard. On this day, the Katwijkse Rescue Brigade offers the public an informative and spectacular experience, in collaboration with other emergency services such as the KNRM, police, fire brigade, ambulance service and the Coast Guard. There are several demonstrations of the various emergency services on the Boulevard, the beach, at sea and in the air. In addition, there is an extensive static show with lots to see for young and old. A day on which everyone can learn and see something from the relief work in Katwijk and the Netherlands.
