FutureLand is the place to experience the future! In the middle of the most modern port area in the world, with a view of the container terminals of the future, you will find FutureLand, the information center about the construction and layout of Maasvlakte 2. There is plenty to experience here for young and old, families and groups! The information center is completely free to visit! Explore the country by bus, hop on a boat or take a look into the future with cool VR goggles in the information center.
Take a round trip with the FutureLand Ferry and sail through the most modern harbor in Europe. Here you can see huge ships docking to load and unload thousands of containers. The FutureLand Ferry operates on days when FutureLand is open; from Tuesday to Friday and on Sunday. FutureLand is also open on Saturdays from May to September. There is an experienced information officer on board who will tell you everything you want to know. The FutureLand Ferry can also be rented for your own group, possibly with catering. Two round trips are possible.
The FutureLand Ferry departs and moors in front of the information center and is wheelchair accessible. Duration 60 minutes Tickets € 12.00.
The FutureLand Ferry regularly sets off for an extra extensive cruise. You sail via the newest container terminals on Maasvlakte 2 to the Europahaven on Maasvlakte 1. Here you can see the container terminals in full operation. On board, the information officer explains the differences and similarities between the original terminals and the newest terminals of RWG and APM Terminals. The Maasvlakte 1 & 2 cruise is usually offered on Wednesdays and weekends. The current offer becomes visible after selecting the desired visit date when booking the tickets. Would you rather stand with both feet on dry land? Then take a tour of the country with the luxury coach of the FutureLand Express. Here you sometimes whiz over a road that is thirty meters above the original seabed. Along the way, the information officer will tell you all about how all that sand was sprayed on.
During the tour, the expert FutureLand information officer will tell you all about what you see and what happens behind the scenes. The information is in Dutch, but there are fact sheets in English and German on board and the audio tour can be followed in English and German via a smartphone with a data connection. On the Maasvlakte beach you can search for fossils, where fossil finder Walter Langendoen can tell you all about the traces of ancient life. Of course you will also look for fossils yourself. The scavenger hunt is suitable for children from the upper years of primary school.
At FutureLand you get closer to the port than ever before. Here you can learn everything about creating new land in the sea, building the strongest quay walls in the world and loading and unloading container ships at Europe's most modern terminals. There is a changing exhibition every year and there are regular theme days where more is told about interesting topics such as digitization, cybersecurity and crime in the port.
