On arrival at the Car Smash location in Amsterdam, we were warmly welcomed by the enthusiastic staff. They gave us a brief explanation of the event and provided us with the necessary safety equipment, including helmets, goggles and gloves. We were divided into teams and taken to the Car Smash grounds. There were some old cars ready to be completely demolished. The goal of the day was to cause as much damage as possible as a team, using the various demolition tools at our disposal. The first challenge was to remove all the windows and panes from the cars. Armed with hammers, axes and other tools, we enthusiastically smashed the glassware. It was an incredibly liberating experience to be able to express our energy and frustrations in this way. The second assignment was to inflict as many dents and scratches on the bodies of the cars as possible. We used sledgehammers, crowbars and even a chainsaw to completely destroy the cars. This assignment generated much laughter and encouragement among the team members. During the break, we enjoyed a delicious lunch at a nearby café, where we shared the morning's experiences with each other and recharge for the rest of the day. After lunch, a creative challenge awaited us: painting and decorating the scrapped cars. Armed with spray cans, paintbrushes and various colorful accessories, we transformed the damaged vehicles into vibrant works of art. This required cooperation and creativity within the team to achieve a unique and striking end result. At the end of the day, the results of the different teams were assessed on the basis of creativity, effectiveness and cooperation. The winning team was honored, but it was clear that everyone had a great day. We had a lot of fun, got to know each other in a different way and the team spirit was noticeably strengthened. |
