What's there to see?

Paleis op de Dam is the royal palace in Amsterdam. The palace was built in the 17th century and is now part of the Dutch royal family. There are several rooms in the Royal Palace, some of which are open to the public. The most important rooms that you can visit are the Grote Zaal, the Oranjezaal and the Mauritszaal. Official banquets are given in the Grote Zaal and meetings of the Council of State are held in the Oranjezaal. The Mauritszaal is set up as a museum with paintings by heads of state from different countries.

The Citizens' Hall

The Citizens' Hall is the largest room in the palace on the dam and is an important part of Dutch history. Important affairs of state used to be discussed and arranged in this room. Today, the Burgerzaal is a public space that everyone can visit. It is a nice place to relax during a visit to Amsterdam.

The Royal Palace is one of the most visited tourist attractions in Amsterdam. The palace is located in the heart of the city, close to Dam Square and the Royal Palace. The palace is open to the public every day, except on King's Day.

The palace is located right in the center of Amsterdam, so you can choose to go by bus, tram or taxi. If you go by bus or tram, you have to get off at the Rokin. From there it is about a 5 minute walk to the palace. If you go by taxi, the driver can drop you off in front of the gate of the palace.
