In December 2023 you can experience the enchanting Christmas atmosphere during the Fortress Bourtange Christmas Market. This market takes place on Saturday 2, 9 and 16 December, as well as on Sunday 3, 10 and 17 December.

Fortress Bourtange

Fortress Bourtange offers a unique location to celebrate Christmas. It is considered one of the most beautiful Christmas markets in the Netherlands. The entire fortress is attractively lit, with thousands of lights decorating the bridges and access roads, while the ramparts boast dozens of illuminated Christmas trees. This is an experience you should not miss!

100 different market stalls

On the Market Square, Surrounded by the large Christmas tree, there is a warm atmosphere full of coziness. Nearly 100 stalls spread across various squares and bastions offer a varied range of Christmas items. Christmas lovers will certainly enjoy themselves here. The whole thing is graced by various choirs and artists, and the atmosphere only becomes more magical as evening falls. Of course you can also enjoy mulled wine and hot chocolate here.
