Lighthouse Klein Curaçao, also called Lighthouse Klein Curacao is a dilapidated lighthouse with building in the middle of the island that has become a monument. You can walk through the entire building and from the building you have beautiful views of, among other things, the coastline. You can also go up and through the tower admire the narrow windows of small curaçao. It is also a very nice place to take pictures through all the open windows and views. < br> Since 1849 there has been a lighthouse on small curaçao. Because of the strong currents, the shipping industry wanted to have a lighthouse. During a hurricane in 1877 the lighthouse was destroyed, it was immediately rebuilt. In 1913 the lighthouse was rebuilt again. After that it fell into disrepair and the monumental ruin arose that has become a place of interest today. The lighthouse does have a beacon for shipping and therefore serves still serves its purpose. Since 2017, work has begun to renovate the lighthouse. This will be increasingly restored in the coming years. |
