Atlantikwall Centrum Huisduinen - Bunker

Den Helder suffered heavily during the Second World War. The harbor and the nearby airfield were put into use by the German navy. This made the city the target of air raids by the British and later also the American air forces. In addition to the navy, the German air and land forces were also present in Den Helder. The city became an important part of the Atlantic Wall, which was built on 37 different points. In total there were 88 heavy bunkers, part of which can still be found.
